Step right up boys and girls: 0.93 is now available!

Please post any regressions or comments right here

/me is off to update the site...

Matzon

just a couple of things skimming the changelog:
* several bug fixes (versioning, display, mouse, keyboard)
* improved fmod
* added setLocation
* support for ATI_texture_compression_3dc
* added EXT_Cg_shader constants

Additionally Mark Bernard started work on DevIL. This has not been included since at its current state is more a proof of concept than anything (the javadoc is included though - and so is the test. Couldn't be bothered to update the build script). I also forgot to add him to the credits list prior to releasing :oops:

Any chance you can post the full changelog here?

How is the Mac port going? Will it be done it small pieces, eg OpenGL stuff released first then OpenAL or are you going for everything in one? I only ask since I can wait for the OpenAL stuff, but the OpenGL stuff would be nice to have early.

Keep up the good work.

Andy.

PS: I just finished last night converting all my code to LWJGL v0.9.2, looks like I have to start again, for LWJGL v0.9.3!!!

Matzon

changelogs are available here: http://lwjgl.org/changelog.php
afaik, 0.93 does not introduce any api changes...
as for the Mac - elias would have to chime in - I don't know...

Matzon

nope - thats the old port

Well I downloaded 0.9.3 and everything just worked as before, so no changes to my code which is good.

I never saw any of the bugs mentioned in the changelog so I must have been one of the lucky ones.

Keep up the good work,

Andy.

I don't know if this is the best place to post this but, as it relates to a problem found when moving from 0.92 to 0.93, i'll write it here.

I was using this function to track the mouse in my window:
private final void processMouse()
	{
		Mouse.poll();

		lastMousePosition.setX(currentMousePosition.getX());
		lastMousePosition.setY(currentMousePosition.getY());

		currentMousePosition.setX(currentMousePosition.getX() + Mouse.getDX());
		currentMousePosition.setY(currentMousePosition.getY() + Mouse.getDY());

		// Send the events to the gui engine
		while (Mouse.next())
		{
			// It's mouse press
			if (Mouse.getEventButtonState())
			{
				GuiEngine.getInstance().mousePressed(Mouse.getEventButton());
				child.mousePressed(Mouse.getEventButton());
			}
			// It's a mouse release
			else
			{
				GuiEngine.getInstance().mouseReleased(Mouse.getEventButton());
				child.mouseReleased(Mouse.getEventButton());
			}
		}

		// Check limits
		if (currentMousePosition.getX() < 0)
			currentMousePosition.setX(0);
		if (currentMousePosition.getY() < 0)
			currentMousePosition.setY(0);
		if (currentMousePosition.getX() > Display.getDisplayMode().getWidth())
			currentMousePosition.setX(Display.getDisplayMode().getWidth());
		if (currentMousePosition.getY() > Display.getDisplayMode().getHeight())
			currentMousePosition.setY(Display.getDisplayMode().getHeight());
	}

After replacing the libs with the 0.93 release i found myself getting this exception:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Current event has no button state change
	at org.lwjgl.input.Mouse.getEventButtonState(Unknown Source)
	at org.oje2d.Engine.processMouse(Engine.java:620)
	at org.oje2d.Engine.start(Engine.java:308)
	at org.tests.EngineTest.<init>(EngineTest.java:49)
	at org.tests.EngineTest.main(EngineTest.java:324)

The exception happens in the line if (Mouse.getEventButtonState()) in the code above.

What am i doing wrong (and is that the best approach to track the mouse, btw?) ... anyone? Thanks.

nocivus

Ok, problem solved... Mental note: check the javadoc first :)
Mouse.getEventButton() was returning -1 and Mouse.getEventButtonState() was throwing the exception for that.

LWJGL 0.93 seems to hang when I want to close the context.

Display.setDisplayMode(new DisplayMode(320, 240));
Display.setFullscreen(false);
Display.setTitle("foo");
Display.create();

Display.destroy();
// hangs... forever :(

The linux ATI drivers are not yet much good, but you could try a killall -QUIT java to make it spit out a trace of where the threads are blocked.

I just commited some new extensions. One of them is EXT_paletted_texture and we need it in our project, so...could someone send a new build to me? :wink:

Oh, I just realised that we need to add support for floating point pixel formats (ARBColorBufferFloat). For both framebuffers and pbuffers. It's not urgent at all though...

elias

I was under the impression that EXT_paletted_texture was obsolete and being removed from drivers. Take a look at:

Indeed. Not really any point in using it any more.
