Just a post for those of you not on the OAL mailing list:
QuoteI can finally spill the beans on the two major OpenAL-related
announcements from GDC:

1)  Apple is now officially backing OpenAL.  A new, faster, implementation
has been checked into the source repository (openal/macosx), and will
become the preferred implementation very soon and make it into the
installer.  The existing codebase (openal/mac) will become the OS 8/9
codebase.

2)  Using Sensaura technology, OpenAL implementations for Microsoft Xbox,
Sony Playstation 2, and Nintendo GameCube have now been announced.  They
are part of the GameCODA middleware program from Sensaura, so these
libraries are not free but the licensing is very competitive in the game
console market.  Interested developers can contact either Creative or
Sensaura for more information...
