Why does it take the ARB
so long to produce a new programming guide? The current version was released in September 1999 and covers up to the OpenGL 1.2 spec, which itself was released in March 1998! By the time the book was released the spec was already a year old. The last
five years of API evolution have gone by the wayside.
With rumblings of an OpenGL 1.5 specification starting, the ARB is finally getting around to documenting OpenGL 1.3 and 1.4 in the upcoming OpenGL Programming Guide 1.4 - estimated release, November 2003:

way behind. Someone could make a real killing in this market.
