Sometimes, coming back from fullscreen freezes the desktop

Hi all!

Using the ForceWare Release 90, Version: 91.31 nVidia driver on my 6600 GT, I sometimes experience problems after a game used the fullscreen mode. Switching between windowed/fullscreen modes works fine, but being in fullscreen and then calling "Display.destroy()" makes the entire Windows desktop freeze. After many "Alt-F4" types, the desktop recovers.

The freezing started with the first (or second) beta of LWJGL 1.0. Does anybody have the same experiences?

No freezes here, but I've also encountered odd behavior by 9x.xx drivers. Try the latest 91.33, they're in better shape, for me at least.

Just for the log book: the "freeze-after-fullscreen" only happens when the Opera 9 browser is up and running (minimized or not, doesn't matter). It's not 100% reproducable, but after having visited some sites with animated GIFs and/or Flash animations ... the Windows desktop freezes. Tribal Trouble suffers from the same "bug" here.

doesn't sound like it's lwjgl's fault to be honest - and no idea of how to work around it :/

Sormuras

Aye. It's Opera's fault... or some driver issue and it's reproducable on different computers/laptops. All with nVidia cards and all kind of driver versions.

My work around is: using Firefox. :)

Thats visible here too...quite random, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't....

Solution: Use linux :P
