looks like the S3 chips do not do GL display lists good.  :'(

*sigh*

Someone in the Minecraft forum just said that OpenGL 2.0 is required. And my chipset doesn't do that.

According to this handy tool i only have OpenGL 1.4.

I should just get a new laptop.
