Installation test fails on Linux

Well, looks like it was ATI's fault, after all! I removed the driver package from Gentoo and installed the newest version of fglrx manually, and it doesn't crash anymore! I have no idea what the problem was at this point, but it looks like it's gone away.

Just for the record:
The problematic driver version was: 8.471.3
The one that worked was: 8.522

well, I have no idea how to "fix" it - so I am happy let it be a driver issue.
