Key Codes

Hi,
I looked at a few threads regarding my question but they were quite old and it suggested I start a new thread.

From what I have read I understand that it doesn't matter what international keyboard is used the key codes are handled by the OS to represent the equivalent keys regardless of their location. I am happy with this but can someone please confirm this is the case?

Also, I notice the key codes are different to the awt key event. Why is this? Are there 2 different standards used? I am very happy to adopt the LWJGL key codes but I am just wondering the whys and wherefores of the discrepancies.

Are you using LWJGL 2.x or 3?
