If you couldn't read files from within your unsigned jars, that cert LWJGL got would be a complete waste really; what apps don't use images nowadays?

Running with JNLP launcher, java will check all jars for a signature, and foremost check is for the SAME signature... (I had an issue when I signed files from 2 different PC to publish one binary and its resources .jars), thereby understand why signing your code resolves security issues. It's like a fingerprint on your passport to travel.
