Title: So when will Java 5.0 be "official?"
Post by: elias4444 on December 22, 2004, 17:30:57
This is something that' impacting my game development: When people go to www.java.com, they're still getting version 1.4.2 from their website as the default.

Anyone know when Sun is going to officially release 5.0 to the rest of the world? It would sure make my life easier.

I'm sure Elias has noticed by now, but I was just "phishing" for autodl URL's from sun yesterday, and there's at least one java 5 one up now (I think both of them might have been up, actually).

Sigh. Sob. This means, however, that TT is java 5 only :( ??

1.5 Update 1 is now officially out for all supported platforms, except for OS X which probably gets it with next update (Tiger).

No, TT is 1.4 and up (>= 1.4.1 on windows because of NIO bugs). Our webstart installer needed 1.5 to import stuff into the web start cache.
