I was in linux mint's chat on IRC the other day, and this guy was having problems with some Java programs and applets.  The error dump was this long list of stuff referring to X11/Xorg stuff, similar to some error dumps that I've seen here before.  Anyway, the problem ended up being a gnome-applet (forgot which one unfortunately).  So I guess if any X window system problems come up, try removing some gnome-applets (i.e., panels on the gnome taskbar), and I'm not sure why it's affecting Java programs only.

I'm not sure if it was all Java programs, and if a user here doesn't seem to have problems running any Java programs/applets except ones written in LWJGL and still gets X errors, then this is most likely not the problem.  I just thought that it might be of use to some people....to try running LWJGL programs in freshly installed Linux distros with a GNOME DE (without any added gnome-applets).
cool story, bro
